Summer school at USTC, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Nanjing University
USTC, one of the best scientific universities in China, is once again offering its research-oriented (but not only!) summer school to students of ParisTech schools. The fields covered are physics, chemistry, materials sciences, life sciences, medicine, earth and space sciences, mathematics, engineering and computer science.
The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is one of the top-ranked universities in China for scientific research. Located in Hefei, Anhui , it is less than an hour from Nanjing and just over two hours from Shanghai by high-speed train.
A partner of ParisTech since 2020, UTSC is again this year offering students from ParisTech schools the opportunity to apply for its Future Scientist Exchange Program (FuSEP). This program combines laboratory research projects, under the supervision of a USTC professor, scientific conferences, visits to cutting-edge research facilities (such as: Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory , etc.) and socio-cultural activities including visits to historic cities such as Suzhou and other tourist places in China.
The program takes place from July 1 to August 25, 2024.
Applications must be made online on the USTC website before March 17, 2024 here .
The results will be given at the end of April.
There is an exemption from registration fees for admitted students, and some may even have a scholarship based on excellence criteria to partly cover their travel and stay there.
All details and research projects open to applications are available on the program’s website.
The feedback from ParisTech students who participated in the 2023 edition was very positive, such as Maureen Spick and Mahomet Boumard from Institut d’Optique Graduate School, who were able to attend this program with three other fellow students.
Maureen shares her experience in July 2023:
"You shouldn't be afraid to apply even if you don't speak Chinese, on the contrary it can be a very good starting point to start learning this language. In fact, we didn't know a single word of Chinese before leaving, but we were able to communicate easily within the university because almost everyone there speaks English. In any case, it made us want to learn and we are now in Chinese LV2 with Mahomet! This Summer Camp allows a real international opening because we could build real links, both with Chinese students and other international students who come from all over the world (Canada, Australia, Germany, Malaysia, Morocco, Russia, United States, Serbia...)!
Furthermore, we enjoyed this experience so much that we decided to reapply to do a 3-month internship in the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory in Hefei. We were finally selected for a scholarship and will therefore return for a longer period this summer [2024]! This Summer Camp is therefore also a way to subsequently obtain a long-term internship in China, because candidates who have completed the Summer Camp have priority in the admission procedures. »

Note that the FuSEP program is part of a broader research summer school program including 4 Chinese universities also partners of ParisTech. This program is called GRIPS, and concerns the undergraduate part . In addition to the USTC, we find an offer similar to:

So don't hesitate any longer!
